US Sam Day

OMG what a win by Sammy, I am still in shock she thrashed Serena, bring on the world no 1 ranking.

US Open Day 8

What a fantastic win by Sam yesterday, she now takes on Vera and has a great chance to make it through to the final. Serena should easily get through to the final on the other half of the draw. Another seed on the women's side Schiavone is out, she was defeated by another Russian.

On the Men's side Tsonga is through to quarters along with Tipsarevic and Novack. Fed is up later today on Centre court.

US Open Day 7

My smokey on the men's side Del Porto lost to Simon in 4 sets. Rafa got through in straight sets which is great to see.

Sam is up soon against Kirilenko, Sam's win over Petrova was probably the best tennis I have ever seen Sam play. Let's hope she can back up her performance.

Us open Day 5

Big upset on the women's side with screamapova losing in 3 sets. This opens the draw up for Sam who is playing her 3rd match now. Let's go Sam.

Murray was lucky to get through having been down 2 sets to love. Rafa and del Porto both got through easily.

I am Carlton

The Blues just launched the I am Carlton campaign and had an open training session. Went down to Visy park and got some photos of the players.

US Open Day 4

Disappointing showing by Tomic did not show much fight at all, Dokic also knocked out along with Jarmila. Looks like Sam is going to have to carry Aussie hopes once again.

On the Mens side nice upset win by Juan Carlos Ferrero defeating the no 7 seed Monfris.

US Open Day 3

Nice sold win by Sam this morning next up is a  tricky third round against Nadia Petrova. Sam is yet to defeat Petrova on hard courts but did win their last meeting on grass.

The two German women Lisicki and Georges are both through to 3rd round and they could do some damage on the women's side this year.

Rafa struggled a bit yesterday but his fight has brilliant. He saved 7 set points in the second set and to win in straight sets was a great effort.

Del Poroto won easily in straight sets and is in a nice quarter of the draw and would meet Andy Murray in the quarters. I like that match up for Del Porto if he can make it through to the quarters.

US Open Day 2

My smoky choice on the Women's side Li Na has crashed out. What is it with these Female tennis players that win a grand slam and then mentally can't cope with the pressure. It was Kvitova yesterday and now Li Na.

All the favourites on the Men's side got through and Rafa is up next on centre court for the night session.

I got to watch Sam last night and she looked very impressive. She served extremely well and when her backhand down the line is on then we know she is confident and in good form. Will be waiting to see if Sam can get through a couple more rounds before I get to excited.

Jarmila and Jelena both got through their first rounds so nice start to the tournament for the Aussie women.

US Open Predictions

Women's Title
Very hard to go past Serena for the title especially with Kimmy not playing. Even though Li  Na has been struggling of late she has had great results in grand slams this year so is a smoky. Scremapova should also be amongst the favourites for the title.

Men's Title
Joker is the clear favourite even though he has a slight injury. Rafa and Fed should also be considered for the title. The smoky on the Men's side would have to be Del Potro.

US Open Day 1

Women's Draw
Close call by Screamapova this morning. Sammy is up later this morning hopefully she can get through the first round and gain some confidence.

Petra Kvitova knocked out of the first round very disappointing showing.

Men's Draw
Nice first up win by Tomic will have a difficult second around against Cilic but I think he can win and get through to the 3rd round.
